An AI inspiration tool built on behavioural research

A short survey and a customer’s own photos, turned into decorating visualisations. Built on behavioural research for a UK paint manufacturer, ahead of time.

The work

TVG Media came to us for expertise in custom software development and AI products, on a project for one of their clients, a UK paint manufacturer. Our people worked as part of TVG Media’s team.

We built an inspiration tool. A customer answers a short survey, supplies their own images and photographs, and gets inspirational visualisations back.

What made it difficult

The deadline was fixed and tight, and it was the client’s main concern from the first conversation.

That constrains an AI feature more than it constrains ordinary software, because the research phase does not compress to order. You cannot decide in advance how long it takes to find out what customers actually respond to.

What we did about it

We started with behavioural research rather than with the model, and built the tool on what that research found.

The survey keeps the interaction short enough that people finish it. The customer’s own photographs mean the result is their room, which is the only version of the question they care about.

Result

Everything was delivered inside the deadline, and ahead of the agreed date.
