A tool that places a HYPERVSN unit in the customer’s own space

Kino-mo came to us with a problem and no specification. We built a tool placing a virtual HYPERVSN unit into a photo of the customer’s own space.

The work

Kino-mo Ltd manufactures HYPERVSN from London. The device is a spinner carrying an LED strip which, at speed, works as a screen with no visible backlight panel behind it. It sells into retail, automotive, hospitality, healthcare, education, digital out-of-home and events.

We built their Mockup Creator: a tool that lets a customer upload a photograph of their own space and place a virtual HYPERVSN unit into it.

What made it difficult

Kino-mo arrived with a problem rather than a brief. In their words, they needed something that would allow their clients to visualise how the product would fit their location or space.

There was no specification, no feature list, and nothing to estimate against.

What we did about it

We ran discovery first, and the tool was defined out of it rather than before it.

What came out of discovery was the upload-a-photo approach: the customer supplies an image of their own space, and the unit is placed into it virtually. We settled the architecture on that basis, built it, and Kino-mo placed the link on their website.

Result

Kino-mo’s analytics recorded a 108% increase in retention after the tool went live.
